Rules and conditions

Rules and conditions of the Gouda Ceramic Days

  1. Gouda Ceramic Days (Goudse Keramiekdagen) is an annual two-day event for ceramists from the Netherlands and other European countries. The festival takes place every year on Ascension Day (Thursday) and its following Friday. The ceramists who participate in the Gouda Ceramic Days have been invited by the organization to sign up, or have signed up on their own initiative.
  2. The candidate ceramist participates in a digital enrollment form and adds 5 pictures, of which at least one picture of a stall at a previous ceramics market or a test facility at home or at school. He also digitally provides a CV and a brief description of the work. Each year the closing date will be announced.
  3. The registered ceramists will be notified whether they have been accepted or rejected by the selection board. There is no appeal against the decision of the selection board. The registration is only final if the invoice for participation has been paid and the participant has confirmed participation digitally. If not appearing or canceled after March 15, no refund of the invoice amount is possible.
  4. The participant will have a market stall available at about 1.20 x 4 meters, covered with a tarpaulin. Vehicles cannot stay on the market. They must be removed on both days before 10:00 a.m. Parking space is provided in the vicinity, the location of which will be announced in advance.
  5. Market stands will be assigned by employees of the organization on both days by the organization starting 7.00 a.m. on Thursday morning. The ceramist then searches for a stall within that sector. Who ever comes first, first served.
  6. Participants are to be present in the market square on time. You will have time to organize your stand until 10.00 a.m. (opening time). Both days you are to remain with your stand until 5.00 p.m., at which time the market will be closed. An identification card will be provided by the organization, containing your name, country and your participant’s number. This card should be secured visibly. This card remains attached to the stall for two days, so that the participant is in the same place in the designated sector the second day.
  7. It is not allowed to present work other than made by the selected ceramist him/herself.
  8. The organization reserves the right to remove work in the stall of the market if it does not match the quality as shown on the pictures when registered.
  9. For the exhibition in the historic Town Hall participants can submit one piece of work on Thursday morning before the opening of the market (10.00 a.m.). An international jury will judge the entries and will award the municipal ceramics prizes. By entering this contest, the ceramist accepts the specific terms and conditions. The exhibited piece can be recollected on Friday between 4:00 and 4:45 p.m.
  10. Participation in the Gouda Ceramic Days and the associated activities are entirely at your own risk. The organization will not bear any responsibility for damages caused by participating in this event (e.g. storm, damage caused by the public or fellow participants).
  11. By filling in the subscription form, participants declare to agree with the rules and conditions of the event.
